With a concentration on different forms, we experienced and learned how to create complex yet simplistic designs based on the objective of each project.
Project 1 - Symbols & Systems
Through 4 grids, each being more tight, we had to pick a word and design a pictogram based on it. For mine, I chose a wolf.
Project 2 - Letter Creation
Picking a letter from the alphabet, mine being B, we used set grids to create different designs for our assigned letters. We then had to create a made up word using the same style of type that we hadcreated.
Project 2 - Letter Creation Continuation
Now having chosen a redesign for the letter "b", I composed a made up word using the same design I made.
Project 3 - Iconography & Noun Project
Selecting a topic to do with News or Current Events, we had to create an Iconographic story that made sense. Going through icons from the Noun Project Website, I picked those I thought fit best with my story.
My topic was about how, with the population increasing, there is a larger need for food, therefore a greater need for farmland, which would reduce the amount of living space. By growing plants vertically, we could save space and energy, as well as growth maintenance.
Project 4 - Iconography
By first choosing a hobby of ours, we then created icons based on our pick. I chose skiing as my topic, and created various icons for simplified ski tricks, so that when looking at the icon, you would be able to understand what it is in a simplified way.
